Sup to all my fellow GSE 2001 Alumni who may be reading this. We were just forced away from our virtual utopian six weeks a couple days ago and I am still in a sort of shock and small depression over leaving. I never knew it would be this hard to leave the place, and even more so the people. It was probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life, and I am still struggling to get past that, though all the good memories are helping. Here's to the night, GSE 2001.

Hello all my fellow GS Drama alums! The Symposium for this year was great, but it would be better in 2002 if we had an alumni drama presentation. The current instructor (God love Amelia Rosenburg and the summer of the coup) has said it is a great idea and would love to help us. I'm an alumnus of the GS West Drama Class of 1981 and I'm wondering what happened to the rest of my class. GS was a heady experience for the spastic 16 year old that attended 20 years ago...I'm still in theatre, teaching, directing, and acting. Last night I attended a "techno multimedia" performance of the drama, dance, and music classes of GS East 2001 here in Raleigh and it got me excited and reflective and curious...

Hello to all of you Govies! Especially GSW '93. That was a great year! Where are ya South Dorm Second Floor? We had many great times. Thanks Sam for gettin in trouble or the "phattie" would never have been born or had its appropriate burial! I was in Orchestra (Violas RULE!!!) Anyone remember the 841 repetitions of that song? 17 hours in the auditorium, at least it was air conditioned! Take care and write back.

After all the recent listserv traffic, I thought I'd come see how the gsaa was doing. We (class of '95) must have just missed the alumni association's internet revolution... Lee Hardee was the last of us to write in the book (almost seven months ago). I hope everyone from GSW '95 is doing well. Drop me a line if you find yourself in Charlotte.

GSW changed my life more than I ever imagined. I finished high school at NCSA and continued my dance education at SUNY Purchase. I am now the mother of one beautiful baby girl and am dancing/ teaching/ collaborating with ContempraDance Theater in Wayne PA. I am on the hunt for Jeremi Dilworth. If ANYONE has information on her whereabouts, please contact me.

The class of 1968 (so far four of us are coming) will headquarter at La Quinta starting Friday night, including myself, Don Stanford, Ed Galloway and Rebecca Sullivan. Is anyone else coming? Let us know or we'll see you there on Saturday at the programs. Clayton Gaskill and Paulette Arnold can't make it this year. This is year 33, but who's counting? Enjoy the reunion!

HEY EVERYONE FROM 2000! I miss you all so much. I can't wait to see all of you at the reunion thing on July 14th! Governor's School really exceeded any expectations I had. My life is so different now and I feel like it was a change for the better. To everyone who I had a conversation with or played a Spades with I want to thank you for making 2000 an unbelievable experience. Just stumbled across this page when i was looking to see if GS was still geting state funding. And then i started remembering the curfews, Mayberry's , "the lottery", the wrecking crew ...and geting that stripper for our dorm mother at Gramley. I was one of the chosen few at GSW in '82 in English. Reading these entries was a hoot! I even saw names of people I knew, that I didn't know went to GS! Brought back a lot of good memories.

Hello fellow GS's! Remember "Caution: Social Misfit" on the back of our T-shirts? In fact, I saved those t-shirts! I'm holding one right here. Funny thing is that I resisted going to GS because I thought I was way too cool to spending time going to school in the summer. Turns out, it was single most best experience of my life. Can you BELIEVE it's been 25 years! Where the heck is everyone from '76? I think we seriously need to get cranking to spread the news about this website and our '76 fellow alums to get registered. Please go to the database and enter your e-mail address so that we can keep in touch. Greetings, all. Just wanted to drop a quick note that the Symposium will be held this summer. In fact, it's going to be held on both campuses, one at East (Meredith) and one at West (Salem). Both will be held on Saturday, July 14. So mark your calendars and keep the date open. Details and invitations will be coming out within the next two weeks. We will be ironing out the plans this weekend with the GSAA and the Directors of the schools. What's all this about GS East and GS West? Sheesh. Did this even exist when I attended Governor's School in 1976? I don't think so. I don't think GS was that big then, and we were all in Winston Salem. At any rate, I'd love to hear from any '76 classmates who stumble onto this site. I have some pictures and other memorabilia from that summer. I'll be happy to share said pictures, but must extract one small fealty from each person requesting same: write me a haiku on the theme of being a misfit (e.g., an intellectual from a small town in North Carolina)

I think it was 1994... I was in Natural Science. Everything is sort of hazy. All my memories are boxed up at my folks house. Anyone out there from GSE 94? Email me. I remember making some great friends, spray painting that white wall, and loved being away from home.

Hello to all my classmates from GSW '95...especially all of the Math students. I would like to also say a special hello to Sun "Jessica" Lee, who was my roommate and gave me my first experience with an Ouija Board and exposure to drama students, Theora McMillan (Dec. 6, 1977 @ 12:25 am), and Tekyia Mozell (Ain't no party like an HU party, 'cause an HU party don't stop!).

A friend told me about this site, so I thought I'd look around and see is any fellow travellers had dropped in. Looks like the Class of '88 might as well be called the Lost Generation. I was Drama, also a member of the notorious piano-moving incident. If anyone else is out there, get in touch! First and foremost, I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to please write to your state representatives concerning a potential budget increase for the GS program. Just think: your letter could make the difference between the kind of food we ate back in my day at GSW and REAL food! Second, hi to all you GSW97 alumni out there--drop me a line sometime. Hard to believe that its been over 2 years since I left Laurinburg - GSE 98 was one of the greatest times of my life. For all of those people I have lost touch with, email me! I know 90% are probably here at Carolina or on the wrong side of the tracks at either Duke or State, so you have no excuses not to stay in touch.

I just scanned through this again to see if any 1997 GSW alums have come out of the woodwork to say hello. I miss all of you. It's been close to 4 years and I can still say it was the best, most life altering experience of my life.
